Lalitpur, Aug 24: KIST Teaching Hospital and Medanta Gurugram, India, have conducted a specialist interaction on Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Urology under the KIST–Medanta Clinico-Surgical Excellence Collaboration.
The interaction, held on Sunday, focused on the exchange of medical knowledge and experience among doctors regarding complex surgical and urological conditions in children, modern treatment approaches and the management of complicated cases.
Dr Shandip Kumar Sinha, Pediatric Surgeon and Pediatric Urologist at Medanta Gurugram, delivered presentations on various complex issues related to pediatric surgery and pediatric urology.
Dr Sinha emphasized the importance of timely identification, accurate diagnosis and the use of modern treatment methods in managing complex surgical and urological conditions among children. He said such specialist interactions contribute to strengthening medical knowledge and improving the quality of treatment services.
Dr Abishek Thapa, Managing Director of KIST Teaching Hospital, said the collaboration with Medanta has helped make international-level specialist knowledge and consultation more accessible in Nepal.
He said the partnership is not limited to academic programmes and aims to provide specialist opinions, telemedicine services and international expert consultation to patients when required, particularly in complex medical cases.
According to the hospital, KIST Teaching Hospital has a multidisciplinary medical team, a specialist transplant team and the clinical services required to provide comprehensive treatment. Under the collaboration with Medanta, patients with complex health conditions can also receive consultations from relevant specialists at Medanta when necessary.
Dr Thapa said the hospital’s major objective is to provide quality specialist treatment within Nepal and reduce the need for patients to travel abroad for medical care.
He added that regular specialist interactions, expert consultations and advanced treatment programmes in various medical disciplines will continue under the KIST–Medanta collaboration in the coming days.
