Kathmandu, Aug 19: The National Assembly member Lalit Jung Shahi has demanded the government to hold election of the Nepal Red Cross Society in accordance with the statute, freeing it from 'ad hocism'. 

During the special hour of today's NA meeting, Shahi, shared that the government's decision on July 27, 2020 took the Red Cross Society to an ad-hoc status by suspending its central committee.

He also asked the government to implement the recommendation made by a commission formed under coordination of former Justice Mohan Raman Bhattarai in 2076. The Commission had recommended to recover the encroached public and Guthi lands. 

Shahi drew the attention to make public the report of Gauri Bahadur Karki formed to investigate into the incident occurred on September 8 and 9 last year and recommend action against the guilty.
