Four months sees more than 5,000 disaster incidents with 250 casualties
Kathmandu, Aug 22: More than 5,000 disaster-related incidents have occurred in different parts of the country in the past four months, which has taken the lives of 250 people,
During the period, a total of 5,014 disaster incidents have occurred where 1,607 have been injured and eight have gone missing. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 6,272 families were affected by disasters during the period.
The highest number of incidents include that of fire at 1,136, followed by 1,011 landslides, 1,010 snakebites, 480 windstorms, 245 lightning strikes, 273 floods, and 320 incidents of heavy rainfall.
According to the NDRRMA, the updated details as of 11:00 am on September 10 show the occurrence of 272 incidents of animal attacks, two incidents of avalanches, one incident of boat capsizing, 191 incidents of forest fires, one incident of explosion, four incidents of hailstorms and four incidents of earthquakes.
